How to use the average time calculator
Enter five durations in minutes. WorkTimeCheck adds the durations, divides by the number of entries and displays the mean as hours and minutes, average minutes and decimal hours.
Durations of 30, 45, 50, 35 and 40 minutes total 200 minutes. Dividing by five gives an average of 40 minutes.
How average time is calculated
The arithmetic mean is the sum of all entered durations divided by the number of durations. WorkTimeCheck performs the calculation in minutes and then converts the average into hours and minutes and decimal hours.
For example, 30 + 45 + 50 + 35 + 40 = 200 minutes. Dividing by five gives an average duration of 40 minutes.
Converting longer times to minutes
Enter each duration as total minutes. Multiply whole hours by 60 and add the remaining minutes: 1 hour 30 minutes is 90 minutes, 2 hours 15 minutes is 135 minutes, and 45 minutes remains 45.
